I’ve been singing almost as long as I’ve been speaking. Performing was my first love since the age of 5. It was a way of expressing myself, of feeling free. But along the way, those pesky teenage years meant I encountered something many performers face: stage fright. Anxiety. A voice that sometimes disappeared when I needed it most.
That experience changed everything.
I became fascinated by what holds us back from fully expressing ourselves and how we can gently unravel those knots. My curiosity led me deep into the mechanics of the voice, earning my first certification with the Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA) in 2012. Over a decade later, I hold IVA’s Advanced Instructor Certificate, and continue to train both students and teachers in up to date voice technique and style. I also spend a fair bit of time on my own voice training and keeping up to date with the vocal world!
In 2019, I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Masters of Research in Music, specialising in performance anxiety in singers. That academic study deepened my commitment to working with voice, not just as a technical instrument, but as a mirror of the nervous system, emotions, and creative identity.
Over my 13 year career, I’ve helped dancers become singers, guided anxious performers through auditions, supported clients in getting into top musical theatre programs and pro contracts, basically getting singers back to doing what they do best with confidence and surety.
My current student base is as varied as their voices. I currently teach singers who are professional musical theatre performers, cruise ship vocalists, professional recording artists, local gig performers and festival artists. I also work with non-singing professionals on presentation and public speaking for the corporate and small biz worlds.
